Synopsis: If not solved, AI models' power and water consumption threaten human society and ecology. AI is expected to consume 4% of the world's electricity by 2026. Water requirements are even more alarming as water is a shared, non-renewable resource. This talk will discuss some ways, such as data center redesign that industry and academia are working to tackle this issue and the research directions that may enable us to train and use energy-efficient models.
