R6 Diversity and Inclusion Program
IEEE’s mission to foster technological innovation and excellence to benefit humanity requires the talents and perspectives of people with different personal, cultural, and disciplinary backgrounds. IEEE is committed to advancing diversity in the technical profession, and to promoting an inclusive and equitable culture that welcomes, engages, and rewards all who contribute to the field, without regard to race, religion, gender, disability, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Goal: Advocate for the Region 6 and its organizational units’ (OU) practices, activities, and policies in
order to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive environment that is valuable for all
members. Support advocacy efforts in making progress towards a diverse, equitable,
and inclusive technical community within the Region.
R6 Five Focus Areas:
- Promotion. – Celebrating and showcasing
- Education – Raising awareness and developing sharable resources
- Accountability – Collecting and analyzing data. Using and providing benchmarking and
tracking - Communication – Sharing these efforts effectively to benefit across R6
- Engagement – Increasing and engagement and support Region-wide
